The Community-Led Process
We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community. Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own.
— Cesar Chavez
The Kaleidoscope Community-Led Process
The Kaleidoscope community-led process is a strategic approach designed to shift power into the hands of the community. It emphasizes building community capacity, strengthening advocacy, and ensuring that the community itself defines and directs the work being done. Through this process, decision-making authority and ownership are transferred to the community, allowing its members to lead, shape, and sustain efforts that reflect their priorities and lived experiences.
Shifting Power
Kaleidoscope funds organizations in Wake County that work directly with communities demonstrating both the desire and readiness to create racially equitable environments for children.
Building Community Capacity
Kaleidoscope works with and guide sites through the community-led process to create racially equitable environments that support the social-emotional health and well-being of children and their families.
Acting as a facilitator and funder, The Kaleidoscope Project is seeking a Partner Organization to connect us to authentic community expertise and leadership. The Partner would not necessarily implement changes; they would help develop the trust they have built over time, help us connect with the right people, and participate in grassroots committee decision making.
Supporting Systems Change through Advocacy
The Kaleidoscope advocacy plan focuses on network development, policy change, community development and communication all with a focus on supporting the social emotional health of children.
Focus on evaluation
Real-time feedback and analysis strengthen our learning and improvement. To support this, the Kaleidoscope Project partners with an independent evaluator to provide ongoing feedback.
