If we expect to help all children succeed, we must do more than closing gaps and pointing to disparities. All of our work must strive to achieve race equity, a state in which all children have the same opportunity to reach the potential we know they have.
The Kaleidoscope Project advances systems change in Wake County by promoting racial equity and dismantling structures rooted in white supremacy. Our work focuses on four key areas: children’s places and spaces, philanthropy, racial equity, and community engagement.
The Kaleidoscope Projects Advocacy Targets
Network Building
Build a network of members engaged in a community of practice that advances racial equity and uplifts BILPOC leadership.
Capacity Building
Support organizations advocating for county-level systems change to improve the social-emotional well-being of children through more racially equitable policies and practices.
Policy Building
Promote racially equitable policies within funded partner organizations by examining both written and unwritten practices, especially those that directly impact community members.
Racial Equity
Supports local initiatives that address county-wide policies through a racial equity lens, focusing on the social-emotional health of children and the environments they frequent.
Community voice
Support community members by providing the information, skills, and authority they need to make investment decisions for their neighborhoods and communities.
Collaboration
Kaleidoscope Project and our network members will collaborate across agencies to increase impact and maximize resources.
